FIBER: Sleeping Houses

This was my final project for the protein fibers portion of a fibers elective I'm taking this semester. I made these houses from start to finish, starting with wool right off the sheep. I had to pick all the twigs and grass out of it, wash it out, card it into roving, and then wet felt individual bats of the wool into squares of felt. The amount of wool that I used for these houses would have probably covered my whole studio desk in piles before it was felted- it shrinks into nothing! From there, I cut pieces from the wool, and sewed them all together to form nine houses, all 2 inches tall.
